Alasdair works to restore degraded landscapes across Scotland, using nature-based-solutions as a primary method to deliver positive environmental outcomes.

Alasdair’s foundation is in ecological restoration, and he takes a holistic approach to understanding how landscapes function across different regions, habitat types, and spatial scales. This perspective allows him to anticipate the complexity and sensitivities inherent in large-scale environmental projects, helping to de risk delivery and secure sustainable long term outcomes.

Throughout his career, Alasdair has secured multiple grant wins for a conservation charity, helping it grow and deliver against its winder ambitions. He combines technical thinking with practical design, using mapping and spatial analysis to shape projects.

Today, his focus is peatland restoration and its demanding, high-impact work. He has led major native woodland creation projects, including one of the south west’s largest schemes, and thrives on variety. From concept to long-term management, he stays close to every stage.

In the Scottish Highlands, he is part of a major peatland restoration programme spanning multiple estates and 1,000s of hectares. His work helps deliver a multitude of ecosystem services, such as long-term carbon storage, enhanced biodiversity, and improved hydrological function at a catchment scale.

For Alasdair, impact is everything. He believes in leaving landscapes in a better state than we found them. The pace of change in the sector excites him - new markets, better data, and smarter tools, all pushing towards meaningful, lasting environmental recovery.
